The Boathouse Fleetwood

Shelby acted as Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designer for The Boathouse Fleetwood, a 546 sqm purpose-built youth centre offering multipurpose halls, adaptable activity rooms, leisure areas and a fully equipped commercial kitchen. Designed in collaboration with the local authority, charities and private investors, the centre supports a wide range of recreational, creative and social activities for young people.

Working to a strict budget, Shelby ensured cost efficiency without compromising quality, while integrating advanced sustainability measures - including solar panels with battery storage, air source heat pumps, MVHR systems and a high-performance timber frame - to minimise environmental impact and running costs. The result is a modern, energy-efficient community hub set to serve Fleetwood’s young people for years to come.
