It’s not every day you get two Lords and a TV presenter visiting one of your sites! Fleetwood Hub was the venue for an impressive delegation of architects and construction professionals for Re-fit for Purpose, a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) event to champion repurposing existing buildings.
Event attendees were given a tour of the ongoing works for a new youth hub within the former Fleetwood Hospital. Shelby are appointed as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designer on this scheme, which will massively benefit the local community of this Lancashire coastal town. This mixed-use community hub already has a foodbank, Macmillan Cancer Support centre and Blackpool and The Fylde College classrooms.
The tour was followed by a great panel discussion, which included TV presenter and architect George Clarke, Sarah Robinson of The Prince’s Foundation and RIBA president Muyiwa Oki.
Well done to all that organised the event, including Fleetwood Trust CEO Charley Wilkinson and Chairman Lord McNally and Mason Gillibrand Architects’ Lee Donner.
