Shelby provided Quantity Surveyor and Contract Administrator services for Nilorn’s striking new UK headquarters, which completed in July 2019. Nilorn, the Swedish-owned manufacturer of labels, packaging and trims to the fashion industry, is operating its UK manufacturing, warehouse distribution and design and administration from the bespoke premises in Cononley, North Yorkshire. The development, which has a gross internal floor area of 15,500 sq. ft., represents an inward investment of £2.3 million into the UK operation by the international company to underpin long-term growth.
The building style has been developed to reflect the origins of Nilorn as a Swedish company, using timber cladding and large glazed apertures to create a sense of light and space. Shelby worked closely with the project team, including Bowman Riley (Architect), Novo (M&E) and Ultimate Interiors (Main Contractor) to ensure that the design and costs were fully coordinated throughout the project life-cycle.
David Hinchliffe, Managing Director at Nilorn UK said: “The new premises mark the start of an exciting new chapter, as part of our planned five-year growth strategy. Our heritage in the British textile industry spans more than 80 years, and the new production facilities enable us to continue to expand and meet the demands of both UK and international markets.”
Mark Hickey, Owner and Director at main contractor Ultimate said: “We are extremely proud to have had the opportunity to work on such prestigious development within our local community. We worked closely with Bowman Riley Architects and Shelby Group on the project to ensure that David’s (Hinchliffe) vision of a flexible open-plan office space that promoted staff well-being and increased efficiency, was achieved.”
