2021 has not begun the way any of us had hoped. A new year usually heralds a fresh start, but we are living through extraordinary times.
Here at Shelby, we adapted our way of working in 2020 to safely carry on supporting our valued clients during a global pandemic. It remains very much busines as usual, as we have relocated from our offices to predominately working at home and, where possible, conducting virtual rather than face-to-face meetings.
Despite being an exceedingly difficult year, 2020 proved Shelby’s busiest yet and we could not be prouder of what our team achieved.
Supporting Keyworkers
Shelby’s specialism is providing construction professional services to various clients nationwide. As supermarkets and food stores have proved an essential service throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Shelby has been busier than ever supporting these critical businesses. We oversaw a programme of planned asset investment works for a renowned food retailer during the first national lockdown. In the second half of 2020, our team worked on a national rollout programme with another large food retailer to enhance its staff facilities. We are also involved in a multi-million-pound extension of an existing regional distribution warehouse for a leading food client.
Helping the Environment
2020 saw Shelby mark its fifth anniversary by sponsoring the planting of 50 native broadleaf trees within the Yorkshire Dales. We look forward to planting these trees in 2021 as part of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s (YDMT) Together for Trees campaign.
Work Local
Shelby relocated to a new registered office in Lancashire in late 2020. When lockdown ends, we look forward to returning to this business hub, which is shared with HR, legal and design professionals. The team from Shelby’s central Leeds office continue to support our regional and national clients.
This year has certainly taught us that we can work locally and support our neighbouring businesses. Shelby is looking forward to providing professional services on several schemes within our local communities, including luxury holiday homes in the South West and a North West based community hub.
Charity Hat-trick
Shelby is proud to be the match kit sponsor for a junior football squad. The Under 11s team at Poulton Town Football Team, in Lancashire, has unveiled its new-look strip, which is emblazoned with the Shelby logo. This is the third time that Shelby has sponsored this team since 2016.
